Suppressor FAQ / Certification Process

• SilencerShop.com Account
• We use SilencerShop to prepare and check the eForms.
• You will need to have a Current Passport Photo Loaded (Take your own w/SilencerShop App)
• You will need fingerprints on file with SilencerShop.
• Mail In -or-
• Use a SilencerShop Kiosk (Locations available at Silencershop.com)
• ATF eForms Account
• You will need your USERNAME
• You will also setup a PIN
• Regardless of Registration Type you submit you will use the Username/PIN as your digital signature
• The email you register with the ATF MUST MATCH the email you use for SilencerShop
• Decided if You want to register as Individual or as a Trust (See Below)
• Trust Documentation (if Registering as a Trust)
• Each Responsible Person must have Passport Photo / Fingerprints
• SilencerShop can help you setting up and updating Trusts if desired.
• Patience – It can take a while for the ATF to complete the background checks and issue your Tax Stamp. You can see current processing times at www.silencershop.com/atf-wait-times
• $205 Tax Stamp for Each eForm (Each Serial Number requires one)

Who is Allowed to Use My Suppressor?

• For an individual, only you can use and transport your silencer.
• Requires another eForm 4 to transfer ownership (+Tax Stamp)
• For a trust, only those listed on your trust can use and transport your silencer.
• You can add / remove Responsible Persons from your trust without requiring an eForm 4 or paying for a new Tax Stamp

Once you have an idea of what Suppressor you are interested you will need purchase the

suppressor. Snappy’s has a selection in-house, or we are happy to order one for you. You

can also buy one on-line from another dealer and use Snappy’s for the transfer.

• Decide on Make / Model
• Purchase Suppressor
• If purchasing from another dealer we charge a $75.00 transfer fee
• Purchase Tax Stamp $205 (Paid to Snappy’s or you can use SilencerShop Credit)
• Provide Snappy’s with a current phone number & the email address you will use with SilencerShop.com (or the email on your existing SilencerShop account)
• SilencerShop will have you complete your registration.
• You will Select type (Individual or Trust)
• You will Fill Out All Required Registration Information & e-sign
• Legal Name, DOB, Physical Address, Citizenship Requirements
• You will need to Answer all of the questions on the Form 4
• Your eForm4 will be reviewed for any errors or omissions
• Once the eForm4 is ready to be certified Snappy’s will contact you to arrange a time to Certify and Submit the eForm4 (You will use your ATF Username/PIN)
• You will NOT need to come back in person to do this. All you need is access to a computer. (Desktop as the ATF website is NOT mobile friendly).
• Snappy’s will call you and we will join a web session together to walk through the eForm4 and then Sign/Certify (Using your ATF Username/Pin)
• Once certified and submitting the waiting begins. The ATF will process the form and complete all NICS (Background Checks)
• The Approved eForm4 and Tax Stamp will be sent to Snappy’s and we will contact you to let you know it is ready for pickup.
• You will need to fill a Federal Form 4473 (Record of Transfer) to complete the process. No NICS Background will be done as it was completed with the eForm4.
• You will need to bring a current Montana Photo ID. If your Photo ID does not have your current physical address, you will need another government issued document with your full name and physical address. (Most common are Hunt/Fish License or Vehicle Registration)
• DONE!
